Abstract

It is not easy to find many repertories of travel guides to the Holy Land, such as the one Doctor Paulo de Zamora offers in his «Aprovación» of the Relación Nueva… by Friar Blas de Buyza. The twenty-two Spanish and foreign works mentioned reflect the extent to which they circulated in Spain, together with Spanish works, at the time of Phillip III, as well as those written in Latin, Portuguese, Italian and French. Besides bibliographically identifying each work and its author, we can verify how Doctor Zamora uses this set of works to exalt the writings of Blas de Buyza; thus praising the effort of the Hispanic monarch in the financial maintenance of the Holy Land.
