Phraseology and numismatics. Locutions with names of spanish currency in the <em>Diccionario de la Lengua Española</em>

Abstract

The main aim of this study is to identify all the compound expressions containing a noun designating a form of Spanish currency, such as estar sin blanca, no valer un ardite, escupir doblones, and hacer la peseta. The corpus (Attachment) is primarily based on entries in Autoridades and the Diccionario de la lengua española of the RAE. Comparison between the different editions is carried out by means of the Nuevo tesoro lexicográfico. In addition, the compound expressions are described: the first edition of the entries, their validity, formal structure, etc. The conclusions are presented in § 3.
