Abstract

In the 1420s, two monks of the Franciscan convent of Seville translated into Spanish a substantial part of Nicholas of Lyra’s Postilla litteralis in universam Bibliam. Moreover, the translators contribute to Lyra’s text a notable number of original comments, among which those devoted to the analysis of some lemmas are noteworthy. This turns their work into a most relevant lexicographic contribution. This paper intends to call attention to their contribution, illustrating it with examples taken from those found in the 1427 version of the Postilla in Psalmos by one of the translators, Alfonso of Algeciras.
