Abstract

This article examines the information we have on the circulation, possession, and reading of Nicolás Fernández de Moratín’s erotic poem Arte de putear with the objective of clarifying some aspects of its fluid reception during the decades after it was written. I will use some little-cited documents, as well as the data that can be obtained from the copies of the poem that are currently available. In a related process, I will also correct some erroneous information that has been presented during the last few years about one of the copies of the poem, which helps untangle the textual relationships among them and allows constructing a hypothetical stemma.
