Abstract

Juan de Ibaso (Baza, 1612 - Málaga, 1694) is one of the many forgotten poets of the second half of the seventeenth century. His training as a Jesuit
and his subsequent ecclesiastical career, took him to different parts of Spain in
the course of this life, especially Granada, Seville, Madrid and Malaga, and this is
reflected in his poetry. The article retrieves fundamental documentation in order
to reconstruct his major biographical milestones.
