Abstract

The reasons are studied why a work of Christian edification, written by a Catholic author (Las postrimerías del hombre), should appear in the 1747 Index of forbidden books. Its sources, Chasseneux and Lemonnier de Lesnauderie, were upholders of sixteenth-century Pietism and were sentenced to expurgation for their use of apocryphal auctoritates.
