Abstract

The present article studies the following words derived from verano: veranada, veranadero, veranador, veranar, veraneante, veranear, veraneo and veranero. By using textual sources as a basis, the main purpose of our contribution is to trace the history of these words, pointing to their first uses and their subsequent semantic development. The knowledge obtained about the life of each of these derived words will allow us to assess the lexicographic register that they have been given in Spanish lexicography, paying special attention to the dictionaries of the Real Academia Española.
